The weaving of the Anatolian rugs was first initiated with the onset of the Turkish tribes from Central Asia, who decided to settle in this region of Turkey.

Therefore, Anatolian rugs are commonly called a well-spread branch of ethnic Turkish rugs. These rugs were originally woven only for the Sultans of the Ottoman Empire. This Anatolian rug features the distinguishing design of a central pole medallion intermingled with a symmetrical shape.
