ANTIQUE ORIENTAL RUG 8x11 HAND-KNOTTED HERIZ carpet 8x10 handmade tribal vintage
7'8 x 11' clean hand knotted vintage authentic rug (mid 1900s estimate). The rug has been professionally cleaned. No stains, tears, holes, animal or smoke. This special carpet is made of the finest lamb kurk wool and natural vegetable dyes by skilled crafts people from villages and hamlets at the base of Mt. Its mineral rich waters when used to wash the rug during the finishing process lends unusually rich tones famous for the region. Rich spectrum of red rust from pomegranate madder root and vermilion, dark to light blue from indigo grape lilac hyacinth and centaurea cyanus, wheats and tans from larkspur and weld. Natural dyes oxidize over the century giving light and dark shades of each color called'abrash' by curators, giving lots of tone nuance. Overall very good condition for the age, only small wear over the century but excellent and clean for authentic vintage as you can see in the images. See all 12 images and closeups.
