Palatial 11' x 16'6 feet hand knotted authentic antique rug (early 1900s estimate). Very good condition for the age. The rug has been professionally cleaned with no stains, animal or smoke. This special carpet is made of the finest lamb kurk wool and natural vegetable dyes by skilled crafts people from villages and hamlets at the base of Mt. Its mineral rich waters when used to wash the rug during the finishing process lends unusually rich tones famous for the region. Rich spectrum of reds from pomegranate and beet, dark to light blue from indigo grape lilac hyacinth and centaurea cyanus, teal, green and more. Natural dyes oxidize over the century giving light and dark shades of each color called'abrash' by curators, giving lots of tone nuance. Double tied knots on two foundation layers and will last another century or more. Approximately 200 knots per square inch per layer! See all 12 images and closeups.
